Ниже 900°C насыщение Nb по α 2 составляет 9–10 ат. % [7] , т. е. 1,5 атома Nb на элементарную ячейку α 2 (16 атомов/ячейку). Чтобы приспособиться к избыточному содержанию ниобия, пересыщенная решетка α 2 больше не может поддерживать свою гексагональную симметрию и становится решеткой O.
